About Us
This is a collaboration between two women, one an long time elementary school music teacher, the other a accomplished ocarina player and graphic artist. We have a passion to make music education available in elementary schools despite economic trends.
We have had quite a journey. Last Spring we brought our fledgling
program to the teachers. They told us how to make it better and more
useful, so we did. Then, Kristie watched our program grow until she
realized it was personally beyond her ability to teach it, so Diane
wrote our our Teacher's Edition.
For an experienced teacher, this book
makes filling out ELER forms easy as 1 - 2 - 3. For the inexperienced
teacher, pacing, points of learning, and ideas for classroom
interaction are shared to help you build a thorough musical curriculum. We made the music in the Teacher's
Edition even larger than it is in the student book, with roomy 8 1/2 by
11 inch pages spiral bound pages.
So
many instruments for young children are made overseas. Diane and I
never would have started this project if we had not had access to the
finely engineered Bearpaw Ocarina. They are made here in America from
recycled materials. These folks at Bearpaw Flutes and Ocarinas, also of Clayzeness Whistle Works, are old
friends of ours who have reinforced our values on ecological business
practices. They have inspired us with their deep love of children,
music, and education. Ocarina Arena is a home grown business, and
we're getting as green as we can as fast as we can. Meet our friends Richard and Sandi here at: Clayz.Com
